It is a fact that nobody’s taste stays the same forever. In fact, people’s tastes can change a great deal in not too long a time. The problem with this is that your closets and wardrobes can very quickly fill up with clothes that you no longer like, and that you are not very likely to wear anymore. Not only is this a bit of a waste, but it also means that your storage space is taken up by clothes that are pretty much redundant. There are a few things you can do to fix this problem. Firstly, you can try to sell these clothes. In fact, you might be able to get quite a good price if you haven’t worn the clothes very much. Alternatively, you could always give the clothes away to a charity shop. This would be the ethical solution.
If you find yourself getting stuck for what to buy people for Christmas, then you can do a lot worse than get them a gift card from a high street fashion store. Of course, if you happen to know what kind of thing they would want as a gift, it’s always better to get the item itself. But this can be a little bit risky if you aren’t completely sure what kind of style they like. Getting a gift card removes this element of risk, because it gives the recipient the chance to choose exactly what they want for themselves. It also means that they can go and try the clothes on before they buy, which eliminates any potential problems that might come up with regard to badly-fitting garments. Sure, you might think that this kind of gift is a bit boring, but I don’t really agree with this – it gives the opportunity to get something that they really would like.
Most people buy their clothes and accessories from established retail stores, designer outlets and other shops like that. I know that this is where I purchase the majority of my wardrobe. But this isn’t the only source that you can use. I think that people forget that clothes are, after all, made by people like you and me, and home-made clothes can be quite cool (as long as the creator knows what they are doing of course). Actually, some of the coolest pieces in my fashion collection are things such as scarves and hats that have been made by ‘real’ people and that I have purchased from eBay, or some other online shopping websites like that. Don’t turn your nose up at it straight away just because you’ve never heard of the name on the label!
If there’s one thing that every person, man or woman, old or young, and whatever their personal sense of style, should have in their wardrobe, it’s a decent collection of t-shirts. They are just so useful and versatile – in fact, they will go with almost every kind of casual style or outfit. They can even be useful when you are wearing a smart outfit such as a suit, because if it is cold you can wear a t-shirt underneath your shirt and tie to keep warm. Whenever I see that a shop has got a sale on t-shirts, I always go along to see if there is anything that I would like to add to my collection. I have a vast variety of t-shirts; lots of colours, and patterns. I am especially fond of my striped t-shirts. Every wardrobe should have a few at least.
Gentlemen, if you happen to be feeling quite flush at the moment, then I have a rather excellent suggestion for a Christmas present for that special lady in your life. I am talking about underwear! Well, you might be rolling your eyes right now, and thinking to yourself ‘how cliché!’ – but let me explain. I’m not talking about just any old lingerie. And I’m not talking about wool socks. Rather, I’m referring to a new capsule collection created by London-based label Bordelle. And it is a very exclusive collection. There are three styles, and only three of each will be made. Each is also completely made to the customers’ order and take over a week to make, using the very finest materials. And the cost? Well, at over £3,000, you need to be quite well-off to be able to put one under the Christmas tree for your woman.
The Christmas shopping season is very nearly upon us – and the shops would have you believe that it was already here weeks ago. Regardless, now is a very good time to start looking for presents. Finding suitable gifts, however, is not as easy as all that. If you aren’t careful, one of your friends and family could well end up receiving a present from you that they can’t or won’t even use! And that’s just no god for anyone, obviously. What you should do is try to think of things that the intended recipient does not have, but that they might find useful and/or interesting. If you know that a male does not own any pyjamas, or other sleeping clothes, then it might be worth getting some sleepwear for him. The best gifts are those that are actually needed!
High-profile auctions are always interesting, and always draw a large crowd. And when you have the combination of celebrity and a high quality, high value item, then you really have the ingredients for an amazing event! Well, this looks set to be happening quite soon. The golden tiara, set with diamonds, that former spice girl-turned high-profile fashion designer Victoria Beckham wore when she married famous footballer David Beckham is soon to go up for auction at Bonhams in London. The high-profile piece of ladies jewellery has been valued at around £25,000 – but of course, anything can happen at an auction! Prior to coming up for auction, it has been making the rounds of various museums, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Well, perhaps this wouldn’t be the kind of thing that you would wear down to the pub, but if you have a spare few thousand pounds lying around, then you probably go to the kind of functions at which the tiara would be suitable anyway.
It’s interesting to me that many clothes seem to be designed to reflect the season that we are in. Many designers seem to like to take their influences from nature – so you will see lots of brown and dark green shades in the autumn, to represent all of the wonderful colours of leaves and so on, but lots of colorful blouses, skirts and dresses in the summer months. This, of course, seems like a very sensible way to do things – it seems that we like to see colours that reflect our mood, so we are probably less likely to buy and wear very bright, cheery colours in the dark winter months than we are in the summer time. Of course, I’m not saying that there are absolutely no bright clothes being sold in December, but I think it is less likely.
Sometimes I really have the worst luck when I go out shopping. Quite often, I am completely unable to find the item that I came out to buy. For example, last week I went out shopping looking for a present for the son of a friend of mine. I wanted to get some nice boyswear for him, but I couldn’t find anything at all that I thought he would like. Well, just a few days ago, I went out again, and you wouldn’t believe the amount of cool boyswear that I managed to find within the space of about five minutes! It seems like they even hiding from me the first time that I went out! But I suppose it doesn’t really matter – after all, I got what I needed eventually. I just wish that I could have found something when I was actually looking for it.
The spookiest and scariest time of the year is upon us once again! Halloween is the perfect time of the year for all those people who love to dress up in fancy dress and create their own scary outfits. Of course, if you want to get into the Halloween spirit (no pun intended), then it is not absolutely necessary to dress up as a zombie, ghost, or any other kind of Halloween monster. Instead, you can add a bit of Halloween energy to your outfit by, for example, buying some clothes that feature Halloween patterns – such as pumpkins, skulls, bones and so on. But if you have children, the likelihood is you will have to help them make costumes! And this can be really fun – you can find all kinds of tips and tricks for making Halloween costumes online, so you aren’t completely on your own.
